What is a frozen pregnancy

Dr. Denis SlinkinA frozen pregnancy is an end to the development of an embryo in the uterus of a pregnant woman, which ends with the noncarrying of the fetus and the termination of pregnancy. This happens quite often: about one in five women encountered a frozen pregnancy, says Dr. Denis Slinkin .

Dr. Denis Slinkin claims that statistics show that about 80% of cases of freezing during pregnancy occur at an early stage of pregnancy. Perhaps this figure is even higher: a delay of several days in the month is not considered a serious problem.

When the delay leads to a large number of months, the woman may not even suspect that she was pregnant.
But even if the pregnancy is already known for certain, it can freeze at an early stage and lead to autoabortion. During this period, the bookmark and basic formation of all vital organs of the child. In some women, the body is very sensitive to any factors that may lead to abnormalities of the fetus, and responds to them in this way.

In the second and third trimester, pregnancy slows down much less frequently, but this happens as well. When a woman sees a doctor in time, she can receive the necessary care so that the terminated pregnancy does not lead to further infertility. Fortunately, with the development of medicine in recent years, this is more than possible.

Reasons for a frozen pregnancy

A large proportion of cases of frozen pregnancy occur due to genetic disorders and fetal anomalies. Alas, this is part of the natural selection mechanism: non-viable organisms die in the foetus. Neither the woman herself nor the well-known methods of evidence-based medicine can influence this mechanism, says Dr. Denis Slinkin.

Among other causes of fetal dying at an early stage:

Denis Slinkin

  • polycystic ovaries;
  • intoxication of the body by various substances alcohol, dangerous chemical compounds, products of bacteria in case of infection;
  • inflammatory diseases of the genital organs;
  • ther inflammatory diseases;
  • serious illnesses of the mother, for example, diabetes;
  • TORCH infections;
  • multiple abortions in anamnesis;
  • severe stress;
  • excessive physical activity, fatigue.

In the second and third semesters, the fetus needs serious causes to die. Social factors such as stress, fatigue, drug use and high alcohol consumption cannot be excluded. But the main factors are serious fetal malformations and severe diseases of the mother.
